New members of the Board of Directors!

16 July 2009

Building a Bridge has two new Board members, Mary T. Miller and Greg Webb. Please read more about their expertise and what great new assets they are to our organization.

Albemarle County resident and photojournalist Mary T. Miller was welcomed to the Building a Bridge Board in February 2009. Area residents may be familiar with Mary’s photos and articles, which have appeared in most of our local papers and in statewide and national publications.

Mary T. Miller
Mary has been active in the community since 1984, most notably at Region Ten Community Services Board – where she and her husband still cook and serve Christmas Day dinner at Region Ten’s Blue Ridge Clubhouse. Her first position in Charlottesville was with rural and special transportation provider, JAUNT.

She volunteers with the City of Charlottesville Therapeutic Recreation’s programs, workshops, and special events, and is the current co-chair of VSA Arts of Charlottesville/Albemarle. While Mary has long been dedicated to volunteering with programs that offer opportunities to adults with disabilities, recently she led an 8-week photo enrichment class for young people at Ivy Creek School. Mary is also an active member of the steering committee of UVA’s Patients and Friends Research Fund.

On January 1, 2009, Mary was named to The Daily Progress’ Distinguished Dozen, which features local citizens who have contributed to the community. Mary’s many contributions have included mentoring local non-profit organizations in event planning, publicity, planning, and community relations.

Mary is pleased to have the opportunity to be on the Building A Bridge Board where several program residents are old friends.
